Supporting animal charities
We are very proud to be able to support a number of charities – every year we make a donation to a local animal charity instead of buying Christmas cards and presents:
The Cats Whiskers – thecatswhiskers.org
Based in Great Wyrley and carrying out wonderful work rehoming cats and kittens, they received this year’s (2013) donation on behalf of all our customers.
Lichfield Animal Rescue
Received the year 2012 donation on behalf of all our customers. Please support them by putting something in their food bin in Morrisons, Lichfield or Kennelgate, Lichfield.
West Midlands Hedgehog Rescue – www.wmhr.org.uk
Our 2013 Christmas charity donation was for sick, injured and distressed hedgehogs.
Cat’s Protection – cats.org.uk
We were able to send our first financial donation in January 2011, instead of sending out Christmas cards to our customers. We have also offered our services to assist with transportation to vets.
Cinnamon Trust – cinnamon.org.uk
This is a fantastic charity set up to help elderly and terminally ill pet owners care for their pets, and also offering a rehoming service for elderly owners going into hospital or long term care. Please get in touch if you could spare an hour or two to walk a dog once or twice a week or you are looking to rehome an older pet.
PAT (Pets As Therapy) – petsastherapy.org
Ebony, our 8 year old standard poodle, passed her assessments to become a registered PAT dog, and delights the disabled residents at a local day centre, where they love to talk to her and fuss her. She is involved in the Kennel Club’s Read2kidz scheme, which is very successful. Our younger dog Paddy has now passed his assessment and also helps out.
Woodland Trust – woodlandtrust.org.uk
We have fund raised for the Woodland Trust and we have previously been corporate members, helping look after much valued woodland across the UK.
Our recent Hedgehogs & Heroes event was a great success, and raised over £700 for the following charities: The Woodland Trust, Cats Protection, Pool House Blood Donors, West Midlands Hedgehog Rescue, Pets as Therapy Dogs and Staffordshire Search & Rescue Dogs
Thanks to everyone who attended our Canine 1st Aid Course on 14th September 2013, it was a great success, the training was excellent and we raised over £200 for the Woodland Trust!
